2017 Jeep Compass Driving Exterior
At the 23rd Annual Mudfest hosted by the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) two Jeep vehicles demonstrated why the name Jeep is synonymous with off-road performance. In the Compact Utility Vehicle category, the brand new 2017 Jeep Compass took the top honors. Meanwhile, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was voted the winner in the Premium Utility Vehicle segment. We here at Elder Cedar Creek in Gun Barrel City, TX are so excited to carry both of these stunning Jeeps, and invite you to test drive near Corsicana, TX today!

What is ‘Mudfest’?

The purpose of the Mudfest is to test on-road and off-road characteristics over the course of two days. A total of twenty-eight NWAPA automotive journalists evaluated 27 vehicles. Vehicles were put through the paces on on-road and off-road courses to find the best, and the 2017 All-new Jeep Compass came out on top for the Compact Utility Vehicle category, and the 2017 Jeep Grand Trailhawk beat out the competition in the Premium Utility Vehicle segment.

The 2017 Jeep Compass Impresses the Judges

2017 Jeep Compass Red Exterior
Jeep’s newest vehicle, the 2017 All-new Compass, was designed as a global product. It combines the tough, rugged good looks you expect from a Jeep and a variety of fuel efficient engine options for the perfect combination. In North America, the Compass comes with a 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine. You can choose between a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission to deliver a smooth ride and terrific fuel economy. The Compass also offers serious off-road hardware, open air driving thanks to a dual pane sunroof, and tons of tech with an optional 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Surpasses Expectations

The Grand Cherokee is a capable vehicle already. The Trailhawk model takes it up another couple notches. It offers heartier off-road equipment like Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system. It works with the Quadra-Lift air suspension to help the Trailhawk conquer virtually any terrain. You also get skid plates to protect the underside, Kevlar reinforced off-road tires, and more aggressive looks thanks to a black hood decal and red tow hooks. Inside, the Trailhawk offers unique seat trim and styling details to further distinguish it from other Grand Cherokee models.
